Balurghat, Feb. 10: The Congress has called a 12-hour general strike in South Dinajpur on Wednesday to protest the arrest of seven party workers on charges of waving black flags during the Uttarbanga Utsav and alleged false cases against minister of state for railways Adhir Chowdhury.
The state and district president of the Chattra Parishad were among the seven Congress workers who were picked up on January 29 for waving black flags at Trinamul ministers during the inauguration of Uttarbanga Utsav.
“We have called a 12-hour strike along with Murshidabad on Wednesday,” district Congress president Nilanjan Roy said today.
