Calcutta: The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has decided to take strong action against Samit Das — a 23-year old first-year student of Shyamaprasad Mukherjee College who cheated to play in Ambar Roy Sub-junior Under-14 Tournament.
The alleged player represented Pal & Chatterjee Coaching Centre in the tournament.
Samit, along with the coach and secretary of the coaching centre, were summoned by the CAB on Saturday. Samit admitted that he cheated. The coach, however, did not turn up. Pankaj Pal, secretary of the centre, said he was not aware of the incident.
Subir Ganguly, CAB joint-secretary, said, “The coaching centre is likely to be banned for five years, while the player and the coach might be suspended for at least 10 years.”
