Ranchi, Feb. 9: Union law minister Ashwani Kumar today said Jharkhand would soon have courts in all blocks, promising the Centre was making a concerted effort for development of the state which was under its control after the imposition of President’s Rule.
The minister, who was in the capital along with Chief Justice of India Altamas Kabir, said the block-level courts would take deal with minor legal cases. Villagers would not have to travel to the district headquarters to solve their legal problems, he added.
“The Union cabinet has decided to establish courts at the block level in the country under Gram Nyayalaya Act. Villagers in Jharkhand, which has a difficult terrain, will not have to travel far to get their legal problems solved,” Kumar told newsmen in Ranchi.
He also stressed that the Centre would now try to push development work in the state at a fast pace. The Union cabinet, he said, had decided to connect each village across the nation that has a population between 100 and 250 people under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
Asked about the span of President’s Rule, Kumar said it would be in place until an alternative government was formed in the state.
