‘And Beyond’ fancied

Calcutta: Trainer Patrick Quinn’s six-year-old horse, Ocean And Beyond, looks cut above his four rivals in the 2,800m Queen Elizabeth II Cup, the star attraction in Saturday’s long drawn 10-event card. The western India challenger has done reasonably well in his Classic year and boasts of running close behind Moonlight Romance, his owner-mate, in the 2,400m Indian Derby. There is every reason to believe that the Kingsalsa-Sayuri son possesses lot of Class and stamina, too — the two elements which his rivals in the line-up may find hard to match. The horse, however, is being asked to shoulder a heavy-impost of 62.5kg which he may carry to victory as pace in the race is expected to be slow. Imran Chisty partners the horse who may start as a clear favourite.
