Patna, Feb. 8: The state cabinet today gave its nod to the construction of a museum and a memorial stupa at Vaishali to keep the urn (holy relic) of Lord Buddha.

“The cabinet approved the art, culture and youth affairs department’s proposal to construct the museum and the memorial stupa at an estimated cost of Rs 15.51 crore,” cabinet co-ordination department’s secretary Brajesh Mehrotra told reporters after the cabinet meeting.

The memorial stupa and museum at Vaishali would be built to keep the urn (relic) of Lord Buddha, Mehrotra said, adding that the decision had been taken to attract foreign tourists. The urn of Lord Buddha is at present in Patna Museum.
