Fun feast on Fridays

Tonight if you want to relax after work, there is music, food and fashion being served at The Sonnet where Fridays have become more fun. The hotel near ILS Hospital has upped the activity quotient at its poolside lounge The Orion, with the introduction of Breathless Friday Nights.

“One needs to catch one’s breath and rejuvenate after a hectic week. There will be entertainment inside and food outside on the terrace,” said Rajib Roy Choudhury, general manager.

On the inaugural evening, the lounge looked more like a youth hotspot, with models strutting down the lounge and the DJ playing current Bollywood beats. Kebabs were being barbecued in the open. “We plan to experiment with the kebabs. We are getting tea roots from Assam which will be used as fuel for the slowfire. This will give the kebabs a different aroma.” Once tea plants cross the first 10-12 cycles, the leaves are of no use and the plants can be uprooted, he added.

Floral and fruit extracts too would be used for marination. Along with the kebabs and drinks, biryani, dal makhani and Indian breads would be served.

While the start was made with a fashion show, there could be other kinds of entertainment organised on other Fridays. The hotel plans to have events geared towards families also. “The DJ could play retro music and we could have supper theatre,” the general manager said.
