Muthoot arrest

Durgapur, Feb. 7: Two more persons have been arrested from Dhanbad in connection with the February 1 gold robbery at Muthoot Finance’s Durgapur branch, taking the number of those held in the case to seven.

Police said Siddhanth Singh, 26, alias Babu Raj and Ranjit Giri, 28, were arrested from the Sindhri area of Dhanbad in Jharkhand last night.

Calcutta: Former Trinamul MLA Arabul Islam was admitted to SSKM Hospital late on Thursday after he complained of breathlessness. Hospital sources said Arabul had high blood sugar.

Bail rejected

Calcutta: Calcutta High Court on Thursday rejected the anticipatory bail petitions moved by eight persons accused of attacking police when they went to recover an earth-mover from land protesters in Birbhum’s Loba on November 6.

Bandh

Tamluk: The CPM on Thursday observed a 12-hour bandh at beach resort Shankarpur near Digha to protest the death of an ice plant worker. Citu claimed Sanjib Barik, 26, had been murdered. Police are probing the case.
