A Full-On Fest In Association With T2

What: Srijan 2013, the annual fest of Shri Shikshayatan College, in association with t2.

When: January 27.

Srijan 2013 saw active participation from St. Xavier’s College, Rani Birla Girls’ College, iLead, Asutosh College, Institute of Technology and Maritime Engineering, Heramba Chandra College, Heritage Institute of Technology, IIHM, Bhawanipur Education Society College and more.

The first event of the day was a debate on the topic “A girl’s security depends not only on the society but also on the individual herself”. The home team and the Institute of Engineering and Management were crowned joint winners.

Myriad social issues were addressed through events like street play and creative writing, which dealt not only with safety of women, but also with the future of the nation. Serious issues aside, there were plenty of fun competitions like one-minute-to-fame and jewellery and glass designing. Throwball was the only sports event of the day.

A cheerful and bubbly Annesha Ray Mukhopadhyay had the audience in splits as she imitated Kadalibala from Bhooter Bhobhishyot, and claimed her one-minute bid to fame.

Another popular event, Ad-Spoof, saw Bhawanipur College take the first place, selling a doorbell as Jawed Habib. The other top draws included Indian music solo, Antakshari and treasure hunt.

The home team bagged top spots in eastern group dance and Antakshari. The treasure hunt spilled out of the college campus and into the two busy streets on either side of the college.

The evening saw popular competitions like group dance, western band and fashion show. Soon after, the stage was taken over by TV actor Karan Wahi’s all-round act! He anchored the Bollywood dance and judged it too, grabbing the spotlight between performances and cracking jokes with the participants, pulling their leg as well as shaking a leg with the council members of the college.

The fashion show saw iNIFD emerge victorious along with the Shri Shikshayatan team.

As the home team aced one event after another, Niharika Ghoshal, the general secretary of the students’ council, was thrilled to bits. “My most cherished moment was when we were all on stage with the celebrity guests. It’s a moment I will remember for life,” she beamed.
