Dhanbad, Feb. 2: More than 230 delegates from all over the country attended the 5th Indian Mineral Congress at the Indian School of Mines today.
The main topic of discussion was ‘Sustainable mineral development integrating corporate social responsibility and ecological restoration — vision 2050’ during which participants presented their papers providing a brief view of upcoming challenges and what steps should be taken up in the field of mining to maintain ecological balance.
Member of National Disaster Management Authority and ISM alumnus Harsh K. Gupta, senior professor in ISM’s geo-physics department C. Panigrahi, director general of mines safety Rahul Gupta, senior professor and head of ISM’s civil engineering department B. Sarkar, chief executive officer of mining firm AMR I.S.P. Reddy, CEO of Tractor India Limited S. Mazumdar, renowned mining expert D.C. Mrig and former managing director of BCCL T.K. Lahiri also spoke on the occasion.
The speakers spoke on various complications that have arisen in the field of mining and ways of tackling the issue in future plans.
The congress was organised by the ISM alumni.
