Bokaro, Jan. 30: Bokaro police today sent three men including a Maoist to jail after they were arrested from Pachmo village near Jhumra hills for planting explosives which were triggered by the rebels on January 20 injuring11 CRPF jawans.
Loknath Mahto, a CPI(Maoist) member, was nabbed yesterday morning from his house in Pachmo in Mahuatand police station area.
The 46-year-old was also named as one of the co-accused in an FIR lodged by Mahuatand police a day after the Maoists triggered blasts near Rehawan area of Jhumra hills.
Bokaro superintendent of police Kuldeep Dwivedi told The Telegraph that Loknath’s arrest was a big success as he had given vital information that would lead to more arrests.
The rebel informed the police about the two other villagers — Dhaneshwar Ravidas and Sohan Argaria — who had helped the Maoists in planting the chain of heavy-duty explosives.
Maoist literature, wires and police uniform were also recovered from the houses of the three arrested men.
According to police sources, Maoist special area commander of Bihar-Jharkhand Ajay Mahto had contacted Loknath a few days ago to alert him about movement of security forces while on his way to Jhumra.
The explosives that went off on January 20 were planted by a group of Maoists under the leadership of Mahto along with zonal commander Santosh Mahto and Mukhlal, alias Bhagat.
Villagers had supplied spades and tools for planting the explosives on the main road to Jhumra.
