Rupee up 47 paise
Mumbai, Jan. 30: The rupee today shot up 47 paise to close at nearly a three-and-a-half month high of 53.30 on sustained dollar selling amid continued capital inflows, after the RBI cut lending rates. Forex dealers said weakening of the US currency against the euro overseas and a recovery in local equities also favoured the rupee.
Jute wages
Calcutta, Jan. 30: Jute workers representing 20 trade union bodies today served a termination notice of their previous tripartite agreement and submitted a fresh charter of demands to their employers and the government for a new pact. The trade unions have asked the Centre, state government and jute employers to look into issues pending for the last three years.
Jet salary hike
Mumbai, Jan. 30: Jet Airways has given a wage hike of up to Rs 18,000 to its around 7,500 ground staff, sources said. The decision comes on reports of its pilots meeting in Delhi on Friday to discuss wage hike and arrear issues with the management.

Hyderabad, Jan. 30: India’s exports, which have been sliding this fiscal on weak global economic cues, may continue to be in the negative zone for some more time, said D. Purandeswari, minister of state for commerce.
