Court ruling
Jan. 29: Gauhati High Court today asked police to submit within three days a status report on its investigation into the incident of a Class XII student of Miles Bronson Residential School at Borjhar sustaining serious injuries after falling from the roof of the three-storey hostel building in September 2011. The student, Neha Gupta, had claimed that she fell after someone pushed her from behind. Her father Nand Kishore Gupta moved the high court, alleging that police were deliberately delaying the investigation.
Arrested
Police on Tuesday arrested Someswar Rahang, 35, for his involvement in the murder of Krishna Rahang of Tepesia on January 14. Someswar had allegedly carried out the murder in collusion with Krishna’s wife Jyoti Neog Rahang, with whom he had an affair, sources at Sonapur police station said.
