ARC beat Imphal club, enter semis

Imphal, Jan. 29: Assam Regimental Centre, Shillong, sailed into the semi-finals of the 14th Dr Kanti Mukherjee memorial invitation hockey tournament by thrashing Hockey Union, Imphal 12-0 at Khuman Lampak hockey stadium today.

For Assam Regimental Centre, R.K. Anandajit scored a hattrick, while teammate Kh. Jiban scored two in the fifth and 58th minutes.

The other scorers were S. Sachikumar (10th minute), Th. Hemjit (13th minute), Debashish Mark (25th), Tranjan Rabha (28th), L. B. Lunga (23rd), A. Jyotin (33rd minute) and N. Premchand (50th minute). In the other quarter-final league round match, Moral Educational Intellectual Renaissance and Athletics Association defeated Super Sporting Association by 4-3.

For Moral, M. Jenjin (23rd minute) and Th. Anthony (63rd minute) scored a goal each while Th. Rakesh scored two goals in the 66th and 69th minutes.

For Super Sporting, H. Mani scored in the 12th minute while M. Dhananjoy scored a brace in the 22nd and 55th minutes.

Equestrian meet

The Equestrian Federation of Assam (EFA) is going to host an international endurance championship in Dibrugarh on February 2.

The event will be held over a 60km track through the tea estates in the Upper Assam town. The organisers expect around six to seven nations to participate in the meet.

The national federations of overseas nations which have already confirmed participation include Switzerland, Germany, United Kingdom, Canada, South Africa, Australia and Thailand.
