A high court division bench on Tuesday asked Bidhannagar Municipality to clarify on February 7 its stand on an allegation by the HB block residents’ association that it had illegally allowed a company to construct an IT complex on a plot earmarked for a park and then a hospital.
The association’s lawyer, Arunava Ghosh, told the bench of Chief Justice A.K. Mishra and Justice Joymalya Bagchi that the 34-cottah plot on which the complex was coming up had been reserved for a park in the township’s master plan.
“The Left Front government had handed over the plot to Nightingale Hospital for the construction of a hospital,” said Ghosh.
According to him, the company approached the government in 2009 for permission to hand over the plot to another company that wanted to build an IT complex on it and later got the nod,” added Ghosh.
