MU union polls after 35 years

Election to the studentsí union of Magadh University (MU) will be held on February 14 after a gap of 35 years.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the principals of all 44 constituent colleges functioning under Magadh University on Tuesday.

Sources said the election would be held in accordance with the recommendations of the Lyngdoh Committee.

Baban Singh, who was elected the studentsí union president in the last poll held in 1977-78, would be the returning officer of the coming contest. At present, he is the principal of TPS College, Patna, and also in-charge of BS College, Danapur. University public relations officer Shamsul Islam said the votersí list would be published on Wednesday. Notification for the election would be issued on February 3 and filing of nomination would be held the following day.
