Calcutta: Both Pailan Arrows and United Sikkim FC (USFC) had their share of chances, but in the end, had to settle for a 1-1 draw on Monday’s I-League tie in Kalyani.
Riding Anwar Ali’s 73rd minute strike, United Sikkim seemed to be heading towards their second victory in the competition until a late equaliser from substitute Tirthankar Sarkar forced them to split points.
By coach Nathan Hall’s own admission, securing full points from this game would have done a world of good to the Sikkimese unit as they desperately need a few win under their belts to stay clear of the drop zone. The draw keeps them rooted at the second last position with 12 points, while Arrows are placed eighth with 19 points.
The Arrows had an upper hand for a better part of the first session.
