Dhaka, Jan. 28 (PTI): India and Bangladesh today signed a landmark extradition treaty that could pave the way for the deportation of jailed Ulfa leader Anup Chetia and other wanted “criminals”.
Home ministers Sushil Kumar Shinde and Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir signed the extradition pact as well as one to liberalise visa rules.
The visa pact, called “revised travel arrangement”, removes restrictions on businessmen, students, patients, senior citizens above 65 and children below 12 on the lines of the liberalised visa regime between India and Pakistan.
