Best foot forward

Jusco School, South Park

The 8th annual sports meet of Jusco School kicked off on January 22 with an impressive march past led by school captain Rishab Kumar Tiwary, followed by parades by five houses.

Kindergarten tots stole the opening acts with their drill spreading the message to conserve, reuse and stop exploitation of nature.

Students of Classes I, II and III took to the three primary colours - red, green and blue which stand for a virtue in life — to convey the idea that “virtue alone can do little, but together they form the essence of life”.

Students of Classes IV, V and VI presented a unique display of the Slumdog Millionaire anthem “Jai Ho”, combining the victory cry with the school’s own motto — noble intent, loving hearts, fearless minds.

Tata Workers Union president P.N. Singh was the chief guest, while principal Shovna De presented the Annual School Report.

Honours: Agni bagged the overall house champions and Vayu won the march past trophy. Prity and Rishika Gupta were declared the best athlete (girls) and Kafil Beg the best athlete (boys).

Kasidih High School

The 2,100 students of the school, divided into four houses, turned up to compete in various events as the cradle celebrated its annual sports day on January 23. Students of Classes I-III presented a colourful drill while their seniors from IV and V presented yoga. The pick of the lot was an exotic bamboo dance by students of Classes VI and VII. District education officer Ashok Sharma was the chief guest.

Honours: Indra House emerged the overall champions followed by Varun, Agni and Vayu after 100m, 200m and 400m and relay races, shot-put, javelin and discus throw, obstacle race.

Kumari Suman was the best athlete (girls) in the senior category and Shubham Kumar was the best athlete (boys).

Among juniors, M. Shravani was the best athlete (girls) and Akash Kumar the best athlete (boys).

KMPM Vocational College

Jusco general manager Rituraj Sinha launched the maiden annual sports meet of Mrs KMPM Vocational College on January 24. Around 160 students from four streams like BBA, BCA, BSc (IT) and BSc (environment & water management) participated in 18 track and field events.

A colourful opening ceremony began with march past by students of all the four streams followed by a dance programme. Jusco chief (education) Shakti Sharma, along with all members of JEM Foundation, was present at the sports meet.

Honours: Sunil Kumar and Nitu Mahto of BSc IT team jointly bagged the best athlete trophy presented by director A.F. Madon in the memory of his parents.

The BSc (environment and water management) stream won the overall championship and best march past trophy was lifted by BSC IT stream.
