Awards for brave cops

Patna, Jan. 25: Several police officials would be awarded medals this Republic Day.

Deputy inspector-general of police Binod Kumar and deputy superintendent of police Ram Krishna Poddar have been honoured with the Presidentís Police Medal for distinguished services on the eve of Republic Day.

Binod is posted with the criminal investigation department, while Poddar is serving in the vigilance investigation bureau, Patna.

Twelve policemen, including East Champaran superintendent of police Ganesh Kumar, have been selected for the Presidentís Police Medal for gallantry. Binodís name was recommended for the award for showing exemplary courage during the Darmaha encounter in which six Maoists were killed on March 13, 2011.
