Morcha in Delhi

Jan. 24: The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha will organise a relay hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi from January 27 demanding Gorkhaland, the party’s assistant secretary Binay Tamang said in Darjeeling today.

The agitation could also be converted into an indefinite hunger strike depending on the developments with regards to Telangana, sources said. “Apart from the three hill MLAs, seven sabhasads (members of the GTA Sabha) would also go to Delhi,” Tamang said. Today, a public meeting was held in Kalimpong as part of the statehood agitation. “We will go for a spontaneous movement the moment the formation of Telangana is announced,” Giri told the gathering. Another public meeting will be held in Darjeeling on February 12.
