Minor girls ‘rescued’

Two teenagers, who went missing from in and around Jamshedpur, have been found.

Police said abduction cases had been lodged against two youths — Yogeshwar Kunar (30) and Kamal Pal (26) — for eloping with minors. While the latter has been arrested, the other is absconding.

According to complaints filed by parents of the girls, aged 16 and 17, the first went missing from Narsingpur village in Dalbhumgarh police station area of Ghatshila subdivision on December 16 and the other from Sankosai in the Olidih police station area of Mango on January 16.

Police rescued them from Ghatshila and Sakchi on Thursday. They were taken to MGM Medical College and Hospital for examination.

Sources said the girl from Sankosai had been seeing Yogeshwar, who stayed in the same neighbourhood, for sometime. Getting wind of their affair, her family tried to marry her off. She eloped on January 16. The couple went to Nawada in Bihar and tied the knot in a temple. They had returned to town only recently.

A matriculate, she told police she was an adult and furnished some documents to support her claim. Sub-inspector Mahesh Kumar of Olidih police station said they were trying to verify the papers.

In the other case, the 16-year-old fell in love when Kamal visited her native Amadubi village a few months ago. On December 16, she went out of home on the pretext of visiting a fair in Narsingpur village and eloped.

Kamal has been sent to judicial custody, said Dalbhumgarh OC Sanjay Kumar Singh.
