SAIL RUN

Children brave sub-10 temperatures to run for SAIL at Mohan Kumar Mangalam Stadium in Bokaro on Thursday around 8.30am after executive director of Bokaro Steel Limited Umesh Kumar flagged off the race.

Over 1,400 people, including women and senior citizens, celebrated SAIL foundation day by covering 5km from the stadium to Gandhi Chowk at Sector IV as tribute to the public sector steel giant which runs the plant around which the city of Bokaro grew since the 1960s.

Among the hundreds, divided in five groups, the fastest 14 won prizes. In Ranchi, 12 long-service employees were awarded and six wards bagged scholarships at SAIL’s Doranda office. Once again, over 500 employees, past and present, along with youngsters celebrated the spirit of steel with a 5km walk-cum-run in Doranda.

SAIL, with a turnover of Rs 50,348 crore, has five integrated steel plants, three special units, and one subsidiary across the country. Picture by Pankaj Singh
