Two die in bus accident

Patna, Jan. 23: Two persons died and 22 were injured early this morning when a bus rammed into iron bars at the Dobhi revenue checkpost in Gaya, around 130km south of the capital.

Four were referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital, while the rest were rushed to Sherghati government hospital. Sherghati sub-divisional police officer Rajesh Kumar said the driver lost control owing to fog and dashed against the iron bars causing the vehicle to overturn.

The bus was on its way to Rajrappa temple in Jharkhand’s Ramgarh district from Gurua in Gaya. The deceased were identified as Arvind Kumar (27) and Yogendra Bhagat (38), residents of Gurua and Barachatti in Gaya, respectively. Later, a mob ransacked the checkpost office. Gaya district magistrate Bandana Preyashi said: “We hope to restore services by making the checkpost functional by tonight.”
