Gogoi dig

Jorhat, Jan. 22: Addressing a panchayat election meet at the truck terminus near the eastern bypass here today, Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi said he was a true regional leader, unlike the others who profess to be working for the region but had done nothing in the two decades in which they were in power.

Taking a dig at Prafulla Mahanta and Sarbananda Sonowal, Gogoi said they were good at shedding crocodile tears but while in power they had done nothing for the region. But he had done more for the development of the region and as such he was truly regional in spirit and deed. Gogoi said the two, who had come into politics after being student leaders, had done nothing for the students, educational institutes or teachers.
