Guwahati, Jan. 22: Fairyland School and South Point School won their respective group league matches of the Nabin Chandra Tamuly inter-school cricket tournament, organised by Guwahati Cricket Coaching Centre, at Nehru Stadium here today.
South Point rode Sahil Jain’s unbeaten 103 to get the better of Don Bosco High School by 20 runs while Fairyland defeated Godwin School by 61 runs.
Put to bat, South Point put up 181 for seven in 25 overs. Apart from Sahil’s quickfire ton, laced with 14 boundaries, Rohit Baruah chipped in with 25 while Joydeep Singh made 23. For Don Bosco, Kuldeep Deka took two wickets.
In reply, the Don Bosco innings folded at 161 for eight in 25 overs. In-form Riyan Parag was the highest scorer with 55 while Nihal Das made 19. For South Point, Himjyoti Sarma and Sahil Jain bagged two scalps each.
In the other match, Fairyland opted to bat and made 146 for six in 25 overs. Amit Kumar topscored with 46 from 35 balls. Padmadhar Powdel and Kishore Ali made 24 and 23 respectively. For Godwin, Goirik Roy took two wickets.
Godwin were bundled out for 85 in 15.3 overs, thanks to Fairyland bowler’s Muktar Hussain superb spell of five for nine runs in 3.3 overs. Purshad Brahma was the highest scorer with 23.
