The chill is back, and what better way to celebrate than a sunny afternoon of speed thrills and style statements at the Royal Calcutta Turf Club!
On Wednesday, the Prince of Calcutta, Dandified, will chase the winds to defend his crown for the Indian Champion Cup. This is the only Grade I race Calcutta will host this year other than the Eveready Calcutta Derby Stakes 2012-2013, Grade I, which was held on January 13 in association with The Telegraph.
Nine jockeys will saddle up for the race, the seventh of the day, at 4pm. The prize money at stake: over Rs 15 lakh. Dandified, paired with champion jockey Chris Alford, is likely to face stiff competition from Ocean and Beyond, the highest-rated horse at 127 (Calcutta ranking), and Arabian Prince, partnered by Irish jockey Jamie Spencer, who won The Indian Champion Cup in 2011.
For passes, head to the hospitality gate in the RCTC member’s enclosure.
