Melinda meeting with Nitish

Melinda Gates of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is scheduled to arrive in Bihar on January 23.

The philanthropist (Microsoft founder Bill Gates’s spouse) would hold separate meetings with chief minister Nitish Kumar and senior health department officials a day after reaching the state.

She would visit some rural areas in Patna district to take stock of health projects being run with financial support from the foundation.

Principal secretary, health, Vyasji confirmed her visit.

“She is visiting mainly to chalk out details for upgrading some initiatives of the foundation’s Ananya project in eight districts. As this work is to be done by the state government, the meeting would chart out the finer points for implementing these in the districts not covered under the Ananya project, launched to improve health services,” a source said.
