Legacy lessons: State Museum, Hotwar in Ranchi
|
Postgraduate students of history and anthropology will be discussing Jharkhand’s heritage and tradition with historians next month.
The state art and culture department will host its annual symposium at State Museum, Hotwar, on February 16. The topic of this year’s conference is “Historical Heritage of Jharkhand and its Tradition of Art”.
Apart from speaking on the above mentioned subject, participants will also present their papers during the daylong event. Department officials are expecting more than 100 entries from various universities of the state.
“The main idea is to connect the students and intellectuals with the museum so that they gain enough knowledge about it,” said museum curator Md Sarafuddin.
Each participant will get certificate while the most deserving paper will be published by the department. The last date of receiving entries is February 12. Registration is for free.
The symposium will mainly focus on the origin of art and rich culture of Jharkhand besides throwing light on heritage sites that the department is planning to restore with help from INTACH, Jharkhand chapter. “It will be beneficial for postgraduate students of history and anthropology honours who want to be archaeologists and historians,” the curator added.
Once the conference gets over, participants will be taken on a round of the museum that boasts artefacts excavated from different sites.
“It will be a study tour for students as well as for the intellectuals, mainly historians,” Sarafuddin said.
