No change in squad

Ranchi: The national selectors have retained the squad for the last two one-day Internationals against England. The matches will be held in Mohali and Dharamsala, on January 23 and 27, respectively.

Bhubaneswar: A day after Bajrang Dal asserted it was opposed to participation of Pakistani women cricketers in the World Cup, BJP student wing, ABVP, on Saturday threatened to dig up pitches ahead of the team’s matches at Cuttack next month.

Mihika double

Calcutta: Mihika Yadav bagged a double as she won the girls’ under-14 and under-16 singles titles of the Super Series Tennis Tournament at the South Club on Saturday. She beat Snehal Mane 6-4, 6-4 in the under-14 final and defeated Sruta Kirti Gunuganti 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 in the under-16 category.

Soccer tourney

Calcutta: Ashoknagar Football Coaching Centre beat the under-19 Mohammedan Sporting 2-0 in the first semi-final of the Ganga Football Utsav, organised by New Bani Sangha, in Basirhat on Saturday. Rakesh Ray and Prasenjit Saha were the scorers.

Calcutta: United SC’s U-14 team defeated a select India under-14 side 2-1 in a friendly match played at the Bidhannagar Municipal Sports Complex ground on Saturday. Monotosh and Malo scored for the winners.
