Onus on Tolgay

Calcutta/ Mapusa: McDowell Mohun Bagan have paid the Rs 2 crore fine to the All India Football Federation on Saturday as in Mapusa, the Tolgay Ozebes look to start afresh.

They resume their I-League campaign on Sunday when they face Salgaocar SC in their first match — since the December 9 I-League Derby against East Bengal — at the Duler Stadium, Mapusa.

The green-and-maroon brigade will have to start without any points in their kitty. And Bagan coach Karim Bencharifa feels that it will be a challenge to finish above the relegation zone.

“This is a very important match for us… We are at the bottom of the pool and we are 10 points adrift of United Sikkim FC… Salgaocar are 11 points ahead. This is a crucial match because both the teams are fighting to save relegation,” said Bencharifa.

Bagan will be missing Okolie Odafe. The onus will be on Australian forward Tolgay Ozebe, who will mark a return from an injury lay off, to lead the Bagan attack.
