Rebel held

Tinsukia, Jan. 17: An Ulfa (Paresh Barua faction) linkman identified as Tutu Bora Moran was arrested from Jutlibari under Doomdooma police station in the district on Thursday.

Recruitment

Kohima: An army recruitment rally from January 17 to 27 will be held in Mokokchung at Imkongmeren sports complex for Nagaland and Manipur.

Bandh

Nagaon: A 48-hour Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts bandh was called from 5am on Thursday. The bandh, called by Karbi Anglong and NC Hills Autonomous State Demand Committee, passed off peacefully on day one.

Workshop

Jorhat: Dramatist and actor Dipjyoti Kakati on Thursday inaugurated a 15-day workshop on drama at the Auniati Hem Chandra high school in Majuli.

Jumbo trouble

Golaghat: An elephant, which was chased out of Numaligarh Refinery on Wednesday, came back on Thursday. Arup Barua, in-charge of the township, said it had earlier killed several persons.
