MLAs live in hope

Dumka, Jan. 17: Independent MLAs led by Bandhu Tirkey today went into a huddle — even as the Union cabinet recommended President’s Rule in Jharkhand — hoping for a turnaround that would allow them a pivotal role in installing a coalition government of JMM and Congress.

Tirkey, who represents Mandar (Ranchi), rushed to Deoghar this morning with Bishunpur MLA Chamra Linda and held a meeting with local legislator Suresh Paswan of RJD.

The trio later headed for Sonarai Thadi, native village of tainted Independent MLA from Jarmundi (Dumka) Harinarayan Rai, who is out on conditional bail for four months.

Tirkey and his companions persuaded Rai to support a fresh alliance between the Congress and the JMM.
