Bongaigaon enter semis

Guwahati, Jan. 16: Bongaigaon today made it to the semi-finals of the Umananda Bora Trophy inter-district (under-13) cricket tournament defeating Kokrajhar by three wickets in the last quarter-final at Nehru Stadium here.

Kokrajhar elected to bat and were all out for 135 in 37 overs. In their reply, Bongaigaon reached 137 for seven in 37.2 overs.

Rahul Sarkar topscored for Kokrajhar with an unbeaten 53 (4x2) and Plabon Rajguru contributed 21. None of the other batsman could reach double figures. The extras accounted for 39 runs, including 36 wides. Saurav Dev of Bongaigaon scalped five wickets for 35 runs while Sandip Paul chipped in with two for 20.

For Bongaigaon, Siba Prasad topscored with an unbeaten 37. The Kokrajhar bowlers conceded 40 runs in extras, including 34 wides.

Rahul Sarkar of Kokrajhar picked up three wickets for 15 runs and Abhijit Saha claimed two for 22. Bongaigaon will now meet Charaideo in the second semi-final at Nehru Stadium on Friday.
