NDFB statement

Kokrajhar, Jan. 15: The NDFB termed the killing of two persons in an encounter with security forces, yesterday at Kokrajhar a “fake encounter” and condemned the killings.

In a statement issued today, NDFB interim general secretary B. Saoraigwra said, “The army and Assam police claimed that in a joint operation two NDFB cadres were killed in an encounter at Ultapani, Kokrajhar. The fact is that on January 14 around 11am, an NDFB cadre named B. Borailang and a civilian Thunggri Basumatary of East Bodrampur villagewere arrested by the army and Assam police while they were travelling on a bike. After four hours of interrogation, the duo were killed at Jabthu Bazar in a fake encounter around 3pm on that day.”

The police have claimed that the two cadres of the NDFB were shot dead in an encounter at Dalaishree in Kokrajhar district.
