Rapist age test

New Delhi, Jan. 14: The sixth accused in the December 16 gang rape, who claims he is a juvenile, will be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board for the first time tomorrow, police said.

“The board will ask him questions relating to the incident and will record his statement,” said a police officer. The principal of a school that issued him a school age certificate has been asked to be present with all relevant documents on the basis of which the certificate was issued. A decision on the accused’s ossification test to ascertain his age will be taken after the hearing.

Cyber attacks

Moscow (PTI): India is among the nations hit by cyber espionage that has been targeting diplomatic, governmental and research organisations for at least five years, a Russian cyber security firm has said. According to the Kaspersky Security Network, India has witnessed 15 attacks. Russia topped the list with 35.

Shatabdi fiasco

Chandigarh, Jan. 14 (PTI): Railway minister Pawan Bansal today flagged off the third Chandigarh-New Delhi Shatabdi Express here, but the train service was suspended within hours because of discrepancies in the fare structure.

Passengers started getting “resvn suspended” (reservation suspended) message on the railway website. The snag is being rectified at the headquarters in Delhi, an officer said.

Zee plea

New Delhi (PTI): A court has reserved for January 16 its order on a plea by Zee News Ltd for direction to the CBI to lodge an FIR against Congress MP Naveen Jindal. The firm alleged he tried to “influence” a hearing before News Broadcasting Standards Authority in connection with an extortion bid case.

Swamy house

New Delhi (PTI): Delhi High Court has asked the Archaeological Survey of India to “recall” all show cause and demolition notices issued to Subramanian Swamy and his family members regarding an alleged illegal construction raised in their residence.

Coach cuffs

Hyderabad (PTI): The coach of an under-20 women’s hockey team from Jammu and Kashmir was on Sunday arrested on molestation charges. Players of a Punjab team, all minors, travelling with Angad Singh on the same train to attend a tournament here, alleged that he assaulted them.

Noida couple

Noida (PTI): Two pornographic website operators have been arrested for allegedly loading a couple’s video on several such sites. The executive of a Noida firm and his wife had been filmed by hidden cameras fitted in their room in a Mathura hotel, police said. The accused, Ankur and Harvinder, are from Jalandhar.

Gang busted

Noida (PTI): Noida Police on Monday claimed to have busted a gang of auto-thieves with the arrest of four persons from Sector 58. Thirty-eight motorcycles were recovered from them. The group had been involved in over hundred thefts, an officer said.
