Capital celebrates Lohri

The Punjabi community in Ranchi celebrated Lohri with traditional fervour on Sunday.

Ranchi Club marked the event with a bonfire as did city-based social outfits Punjabi Hindu Biradri and Bahawalpuri Punjabi Samaj.

At Ranchi Club, as many as 1,300 members sang and danced as they moved around a bonfire into which they popped til, and puffed rice as offerings to the Sun God.

The celebrations at Lala Lajpat Rai School was organised by Punjabi Hindu Biradari members.

At Gurunanak Bhawan, Krishna Nagar in Ratu Road about 2,000 members of the Punjabi community took part in festivities put together by Bahawalpuri Punjabi Samaj.
