Jamshedpur, Jan. 12: City-based premier business school XLRI has joined hands with two prestigious cradles of the US and China to launch what it calls would be country’s first truly global management programme. The course will be launched from August this year.
Making a formal announcement in this regard today XLRI director Father E. Abraham, in the presence of representatives from Weatherhead School of Management of Case Western University, Cleveland, USA and School of Economics and Management of Tongji University, Shanghai, China, said the course would be first of its kind initiative where three top class institutes would collaborate.
“It will be a two-year residential global MBA programme. Each of the partner schools will have a quota of admitting a maximum of 20 students. For XLRI, the admissions would be on the basis of Xavier Aptitude Test scores. The course fee for the programme would be around Rs 25 lakh that will include accommodation expenses,” Abraham said.
Graduates from all recognised universities with relevant experience would be eligible to apply for the course.
Speaking to The Telegraph today, chairman of international relations of XLRI Jittu Singh said the programme would be held in four parts (of four months each), three of which will be taught in Shanghai, Jamshedpur and Cleveland respectively.
“The students, hence will get global exposure and learn from the very best of the three countries,” Singh said.
The first term would be held at Tongji University, The second in XLRI and the third in Cleveland. The students will go back to their home schools for the fourth term and complete their local graduation requirements there.
“It is unique programme as students would be living, studying and working in three countries,” Singh said.
Robert E. Widing of the Dean Weatherhead School of Management added that on completion of the programme, the students will earn degrees or diplomas of their home schools along with a joint certificate from all the three cradles.
Dean of School of Economics and Management of Tongji University Dr Jiazhen Huo said they hoped that the students of this programme would contribute in enhancing economic and socio-cultural relationship among the three countries.
Father Abraham later also said they were looking forward to a positive verdict from the Jharkhand High Court on stalling of construction work on Tata sub-lease areas.
