My daughter is only 18 and is hell bent on getting married to a 26-year-old man she is seeing for only six months now. She is a very practical person and this rash decision on her part comes as a shock. She hardly knows the man. An open rupture might provoke her to take a drastic step. How do I deal with this?

She is smart. Catch them young and get caught young too. I know of very bright girls who at 27 are struggling to find marriage mates. If she has found someone who is rich and is willing to marry her, then just go for it. Look at the flip side. Imagine if things don't work out: she will file for divorce and get half that bloke's wealth in any case, which will be a lot more than you have. So, either way you gain. If she marries you gain a son-in-law and save money on her; if she divorces you make even more money. And in both, she will hopefully be happy. So, just go for it.
I have been seeing a guy for six years now and suddenly he seems different. He is always busy and criticises me for every little thing. He only points out what is wrong with me and never appreciates anything about me. He even openly flirts with other women in front of me and if I confront him he asks me to get a life. I don't know what to do. Please help

It is over darling. Read the writing on a giant wall, if you wish. He is wanting out and you are being stupid by forcing him to stay. These are clear signals that the guy has had enough of you, wants to have nothing to do with you even remotely and thinks you are the kind of cow that is not even worth milking, in a manner of speaking. So, my
advice is get the hint and move on. Things can be much worse as time goes by. And oh yes, have a splendid 2013.
