Navarang tame Noonmati

R. barooah cricket

Guwahati, Jan. 11: Navarang Club today thrashed Noonmati Cricket Academy by nine wickets in a match of the Ramesh Barooah Trophy invitation cricket tournament, organised by Gauhati Town Club, at Judges Field here.

The Noonmati team opted to bat first and were restricted to 127 for eight in 35 overs.

In reply, Navarang reached 131 for one in 20.5 overs.

Raj Hussain topscored for Navarang with an unbeaten 72, laced with 10 fours and two sixes, facing 55 balls. Manoj Malo also remained not out on 38. Dhrubojyoti Kashyap picked up the only wicket conceding 17 runs.

Earlier, Bittu Sonowal (37) was the topscorer for Noonmati CA while Manoj Barman scored (27) and Moon Kumar chipped in with 18.

Neeraj Tiwari of Navarang bagged three wickets for 17 runs and Ranjeet Mali picked up two for 19.

Maharana Athletic Club will play Santipur Athletic Club in tomorrow’s match.
