Official resigns
Guwahati, Jan. 10: Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) organising secretary Bhaben Handique resigned today citing ideological differences with the organisation.
ONGC fire
Sivasagar: The heater treater plant at ONGC’s group gathering station 3 in Nazira sub-division of the district caught fire around 4.30pm on Thursday. Four firefighters were trying to douse the blaze that was still burning till filing of this report.
Youths hurt
Sivasagar: A leopard injured two youths, Niten Gogoi and Bolin Borgohain, at Garali in Nazira sub-division of the district on Thursday afternoon. Forest official A. Borgohain said the youths had gone near the animal after it was sighted near a mosque.
Student dead
B>n Jorhat: The body of a Class IX student, Nitul Saikia, was found hanging from a tree near his residence at Bonai Azarguri Gaon in Jorhat district on Thursday.
3 arrested
Nagaon: Three daco-its were arrested from parts of Samaguri and Rupahi in Nagaon district on Thursday.
