Nod to highway widening

New Delhi, Jan. 10: The Union cabinet committee on economic affairs today approved the widening of the Baharagora-Sambalpur section of NH-6 in Jharkhand and Odisha under the National Highway Development Project Phase IV on design, build, finance, operate and transfer basis.

The total length of the road will be 368.20km. The total cost of the project including land acquisition, rehabilitation and pre-construction activities will be Rs 3,636.43 crore.

The project aims to expedite upgrade of infrastructure in the two states and reduce time and cost of travel, particularly for heavy traffic, plying between Baharagora in East Singhbhum and Sambalpur.

The two-laning and four-laning of the highway will improve connectivity between Baharagora (Jharkhand) and Bisoi, Jasipur, Keonjhar, Pallahara, Deogarh, Barakote, Jamankira, Sambalpur (Odisha).
