Nokia bets on Lumia

Mumbai, Jan. 10: Nokia today launched its full range of Nokia Lumia Windows Phone 8 devices in India.

The handsets included the Lumia 920 that will retail at a price of Rs 38,199 and the Lumia 820 at Rs 27,559. These will be available in select retail stores across key cities from Friday. The Nokia Lumia 620 — the affordable device aimed at the youth — will be priced closer to launch next month.

The Lumia 920 will be the first phone to boast of an optical image stabilisation allowing users to record blur-free, rock-steady images. With pure view imaging, it will be able to take clear pictures in near darkness — a feature that executives raved about at the launch ceremony in Mumbai.

It is also touted as the one of the brightest and most pixel dense, highlighting clarity of the pictures and text when viewing the device in the sun. It is also being deemed as the first smartphone with a full 60 frames per second without using flash.

The new Lumia is also the first smartphone to allow wireless recharging through a range of devices such as the Fatboy recharge pillow and the Nokia wireless charging plate.
