Navajyoti drub Santipur

Guwahati, Jan. 9: Navajyoti Club drubbed Santipur Athletic Club by seven wickets in a match of the Ramesh Barooah Trophy invitation cricket tournament, organised by Gauhati Town Club, at Judges Field here today.

Put in to bat, Santipur were restricted to 124 for nine in the stipulated 30 overs, thanks to Sib Sankar Roy’s three for 22 in six overs. Bitop Mahanta and Vikash Chetri bagged two wickets each.

Santipur’s highest run-getter was Yatin Mallik who struck five boundaries for his 25 off 20 balls. Sajid Khan smacked two towering sixes for his 18 while Sadiq Imran Choudhury chipped in with 16 runs off 18 balls.

In reply, Navajyoti achieved their target in 22.2 overs, posting 128 runs losing three wickets.

Pallab Das top-scored with an unbeaten 66 off 56 balls.
