Message to writers
Guwahati, Jan. 9: A symposium, titled Book Fair and New Generation, was held at the venue of the 14th Northeast Book Fair today. Litterateur Chinmoy Das urged today’s writers to write about the new generation during the symposium.

Man dies
Guwahati: Umesh Nath, 52, a sales tax inspector and a resident of Satgaon, collapsed and died on the Zoo-Narengi Road at 9am on Wednesday. Nath is believed to have had a cardiac arrest.
Competition
Guwahati: Anti-drugs and Prohibition Council will organise an essay competition on “Drugs and the young generation”. The competition will be organised in two groups: one for students of Classes VIII-XII and the other for under-graduate and post-graduate students. Participants have been requested to send their essays to the Silpukhuri-based council’s office before February 20.
