Biswanath drub Nazira

Guwahati, Jan. 8: Biswanath Chariali thrashed Nazira by 143 runs in a group B match of the J.K. Baruah Trophy inter-district (under-19) cricket tournament at Biswanath Chariali today.

Nazira, who were in a precarious position at 64 for six at stumps yesterday, failed to make a fight of it and were bundled out for 106 in 52 overs.

Mayank Kumar Sharma offered some resistance, albeit for a lost cause, for his 25 off 14 balls while Sadiqur Rohman struck a valiant 25 off 49 balls, with three fours and a six.

For Biswanath, wrecker-in chief Rohit Rowniar added two more wickets to his overnight tally, to finish with figures of five for 29. Dibash Hazarika bagged three wickets while Sailesh Gupta took one for four runs in four overs. Siddhartha Baruah bagged one for 23 in five overs.

Biswanath had made a challenging 249 batting first yesterday.
