Brahmaputra sweep past City Cricket

Guwahati, Jan. 7: Brahmaputra Boys Club defeated City Cricket Club by four wickets in a match of the Ramesh Barooah Trophy invitation cricket tournament, organised by Gauhati Town Club, at Judges Field here today.

City opted to bat and piled up 180 for nine in 39.1 overs. Amzad Ali top-scored with 58 off 57 balls while Imdadul Saikia and Harmit Singh chipped in with 23 and 21 runs respectively.

For Brahmaputra Boys, Gitartha Dev Sarma was the pick of the bowlers with figures of three for 31 in eight overs. Allmiruz Zaman and Ajay Talukdar bagged two wickets each.

Brahmaputra Boys, in reply, achieved their target in 39 overs, posting 183 for six.

Subham Jha led the batting with 43 from 66 balls while Pranab Das accumulated a slow but steady 40 off 81 deliveries.

Gitartha Sarma came up with a cameo, scoring an unbeaten 39 off just 29 balls.

Imdadur Saikia and Debasish Saikia bagged two wickets each for City. Pankaj Hazarika took one wicket.

Navajyoti Club will take on Santipur Athletic Club on Wednesday.
