New Delhi, Jan. 7: Delhi police today challenged the school age certificate that declares one of the December 16 rape-cum-murder accused as a minor, aged 17 years and six months.
The matter came up before the Juvenile Justice Board this afternoon, a senior police officer said. “We challenged the school certificate. The school principal, who issued the certificate, appeared before the board,” he said.
The board, he said, was not satisfied with the age documents provided by the principal and asked him to bring all the documents on the basis of which he had issued the certificate.
The matter will be heard again on January 15, when the accused too will appear before the board.
“After that the board will decide whether to form a medical board to ascertain the suspect’s age through an ossification test,” the officer said.
The accused has been remanded in a juvenile home after claiming to be a minor. The certificate was issued by a school in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, where he had studied till Class VII.
“We also filed an investigation report citing how the accused was the most aggressive and brutal among the six attackers,” the officer said.
