Apps to make you a masterchef

Gluten-free recipes or aloo tikki with a twist — become a smartphone-chef with these five apps

Global cuisine is now mobile. The app is home to interesting dishes like Mashed Potato and Vegetable Patties with Ginger-Cilantro Chutney… in other words aloo tikki. Then there is good ol’ kaju ki barfi under a chic heading –– Cashew Nut Fudge. Salads, main course, dessert… it’s all there.

If you are carrying holiday weight, this is the app for you. Healthy Recipes provides nutritional facts about each recipe, besides calorie count. It even has instructional videos for some recipes.

If you’re a vegetarian and on a gluten-free diet, download this app. You can even scan the database by specific ingredients, like tomatoes, carrots. And the app allows you to share recipes over email, Facebook and Twitter.

This one is for Martha Stewart fans. Besides instructional videos for methods like grilling, stewing and braising, you can share recipes over email, Facebook and Twitter. A downside: $0.99!

Organic ingredients are getting popular by the day and this app gives you access to some interesting recipes for appetisers, dips, snacks and dessert.
