Gurung visit
Siliguri, Jan. 7: Bimal Gurung is scheduled to leave for Delhi tomorrow where he is expected to discuss Telangana, on which the Centre set a one- month deadline in December.
Although the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha leadership remained tightlipped, it is learnt that the delegation will meet home and finace ministers.

Chinsurah: An elephant trampled a 70-year-old woman to death in Hooghly’s Arambagh on Monday. Forest officials said the elephant attacked and injured two more villagers, who were admitted to Arambagh subdivisional hospital. The animal was later chased away to the nearby forests of Ghatal.
College clash
Behrampore: Police burst three rounds of teargas shells and resorted to lathi-charge at a Murshidabad college to disperse Chhatra Parishad activists who allegedly attacked the policemen with bricks during the filing of papers for a union election. Six persons were injured and four Chhatra Parishad activists have been arrested in Domkol. The Congress has called a 12-hour Domkol bandh on Tuesday.

Chinsurah: A revolver and twenty bullets a Chinsurah police constable allegedly lost in a bus on Wednesday were recovered from an abandoned house in Kolaghat on Monday.
Harass slur
Burdwan: A third-year student of Burdwan Raj College has lodged a police complaint accusing a teacher of harassing her because she arrived late for her economics class. The teacher, Tarakeswar Mondal, has denied the allegation that he pushed her.
