Charaideo triumph

Guwahati, Jan. 6: Charaideo registered their second straight win in two days, defeating Karbi Anglong by eight wickets in their today’s match of the Umananda Bora Trophy inter-district (under-13) cricket tournament at Barsapara Cricket Stadium here.

Karbi Anglong, opting to bat first, were all out for 113 in 24 overs and Charaideo reached 117 for two in 25 overs.

Anil Sharma topscored for Karbi Anglong with a breezy 50 (4x9) and Senglong Rongpi remained not out on 13 (4x1).

Arup Dey (10, 4x2) was another notable scorer for the side.

Bishal Saikia and Protyush Bora of Charaideo picked up two wickets each, conceding 18 runs each while Rajdeep Ghosh claimed two for 23.

Surajit Rajkonwar and Bishal Saikia of Charaideo remained unbeaten on 45 (4x7) and 18 (4x3). Abhishek Yadav and Arup Dey of Karbi Anglong took a wicket each.

Charaideo yesterday tamed Dhubri by nine wickets at the same venue.

Dhubri elected to bat first and were skittled out for 50 in 12 overs and Charaideo achieved the target losing a wicket in 9.3 overs.

Wasim Akhtar (20, 4x3) was the only notable scorer for Dhubri while Rajdeep Ghosh of Charaideo hauled four for only one run and Surajeet Rajkonwar scalped three for five. Surajeet Rajkonwar also topscored for Charaideo with an unbeaten 19 (4X3). Rituraj Sharma picked up the only wicket conceding 13 runs.

In another group A match at Nehru Stadium, Mangaldoi were awarded a walkover in the absence of opponents Golaghat yesterday.
